Time well wasted

I consider any break from school a batch of time wasted. Yes, home is nice, food is free, and things are easy. But the lack of sound and fury around the Phipps household, and in the county of Alleghany in general, leaves me feeling less than satisfied at my use of time. Breaks should be spent sleeping in the back of cars (such as the excursions of Mr. Findlay). Satisfaction drops to an all-time low when sad things occur, and good people leave us (Tommy Bobbit; I'm still confused and saddened by that one). So we find ourselves seeking solace in the one film that truly defines the Holiday Season: the comedic masterpiece Bad Santa. Yes, this film is one that finally graps the nature of the time, and how disenchanted some can be with the all-too-happy G-rated period we create for commerical interests. If a man can drink in a Santa suit, find true love in a bar, and come full circle in his life by becoming a mentor to a child, there is hope for us all in this holiday season. Sadly, few of us embrace the daytime drinking, blatant abuse of open container laws, and incessant consumption of cigarettes that is obviously the path to reform and success.
